1. The agreement
These terms are the agreement between you and [Legal entity name] (“Traverse”) for using the Traverse app, traverse-3d.com and the organization console. By creating an account or using Traverse you accept these terms and the privacy policy.
You must be at least 16 years old.
Lawyer to confirmConfirm the minimum age and the legal entity.2. The mountains are dangerous; the decisions are yours
Outdoor activities (hiking, climbing, skiing, biking, water, caves) can cause injury or death. Traverse helps you plan and see the terrain, but it does not decide for you and it is not a guide. You are responsible for your decisions: the route, the weather, your equipment, your skills and when to turn back.
- Trails come from OpenStreetMap and are drawn by volunteers: they can be wrong, outdated or gone.
- Elevation and slope come from a 30 m model, which smooths sharp summits and narrow couloirs.
- The slope layer describes terrain angle, not today’s avalanche danger. A route’s terrain rating describes the terrain, not the day’s conditions.
- Trip times are estimates (DIN 33466). GPS can be off by tens of metres; your phone can run out of battery or signal.
- Routes labelled “Sample” were drawn by a computer for demonstration and are not verified trails.
3. Trip plans and SOS: what they do and what they do not
Traverse does not replace 112. If you can call, call 112.
- A trip plan depends on our servers, on SMS providers and on your phone’s signal. We check plans every minute, but we cannot guarantee an SMS is delivered or read.
- A plan reaches a rescue organization only if you shared it with a verified one, and only after 90 minutes overdue.
- SOS without data opens an SMS on your phone that you must send yourself (“prepared”). With data, “sent” means it reached our server; “acknowledged” means a responder confirmed it. We cannot guarantee a response or an arrival time.
- Responders are independent organizations, not Traverse. They decide for themselves how to act.
- Do not use SOS as a joke or a test. False alarms take time from people who could be saving someone else.
4. Field reports
Community reports are shown as “Unverified” or “Confirmed by the community”. Only staff of a verified organization produce “Verified by …” content. Reports can be wrong or outdated; they expire after 7 days unless someone confirms them. Report only what you saw yourself.
5. Your account
You sign in with a 6-digit code we email you, or with Apple or Google. Keep your email secure: anyone who can read it can sign in. One account is for one person. You can delete your account at any time. How?
6. Your content
Your trips, photos, reports and posts remain yours. You give us a non-exclusive, free licence to store, display and technically adapt them (for example resizing photos) according to your visibility settings, to provide Traverse.
Field reports, routes and places you share publicly help other people stay safe. If you delete your account they may stay on the map without your name; this licence continues for them.
You may not:
- post false hazards or conditions you did not see;
- pretend to be an organization, a rescuer or another person;
- harass, threaten, post hate or illegal content;
- publish other people’s private data without their consent;
- spam, unsolicited advertising, or scraping;
- interfere with Traverse’s security or operation.
We may hide content and suspend accounts that break these rules. You can report content to us from the app.
7. Organizations
Anyone can register an organization, but only Traverse verifies it, usually after a written agreement. Only staff of verified organizations can publish official notices, verify reports and, for rescue organizations, see SOS calls and escalated trip plans.
Staff use the data they see in the console only for rescue and safety, keep it confidential and do not share it with anyone not involved in that response. Official notices must be accurate and time-limited.

Traverse is free. We change and improve it continuously and may stop features. We do not promise it will always be available without interruption.
Maps use data from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL), Copernicus (European Union), Overture Maps and Mapbox, under their licences.
9. Liability
Traverse is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for harm resulting from relying on maps, reports, time estimates or safety features, or for the actions of independent organizations. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, or your rights as a consumer.

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Kosovo. Disputes go to the competent courts in Prishtina, without affecting your consumer rights in the country where you live.
